Wow, I can't believe it's already October 1st! I did not feel like getting out of bed this morning. I didn't run Monday because my legs were pretty sore from Saturday. (I also had a couple beers with Chris and Allyce and Jen on Sunday night, and that's about all it takes to give me a hangover these days.) I also didn't run yesterday because I wanted to get to work early to take care of some things. I walked out to find a pretty pleasant morning. It's still not "cool"-- it's still in the 70's-- but it's much better than it was a month ago. After my typical walk around the block, I set out on my 4-mile route. The first mile was a good one. I like to check my time at the corner of Laurel and Palm. When I was running last year, getting there in 5 minutes was pretty good. Today I noticed that I got there in about 4:30. I did the first mile in 8:24. The second mile was a little slower, and I took a little walk break. Sometimes that's because I can't breathe or my legs hurt, today it's just because. The second mile was about a minute slower than the first. The third and forth miles were faster (8:59 and 8:33), and I took a couple more walk breaks. The feel of today was a nice, leisurely run. I didn't kill myself, but I didn't jog either. My overall pace was about an 8:50. I'm glad I forced myself to get up and run. (Of course, I've NEVER regretted a run.) Activity
