Paris, Baby!

Jen and I left Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport bound for Paris at about 10:30AM on Thursday. We had a pretty uneventful flight to Philadelphia. We had a 3 hour layover there, so we got some dinner. We ate a sitdown place called Cibo. They had grilled swordfish, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. It had the consistency of a rubber stress ball. 3 glasses of wine and a glass of Yuengling kept me from complaining, though.

The flight from Philadelphia to Paris was looooooooong, but we managed to sleep for a good part of it. When we arrived, we managed to find our luggage thanks to the many signs in English in the Charles de Gaulle Airport. After that, I had to bust out my college French to get a cab to our apartment ("onze Rue Saint-Didier, s'il vous plait"). It was cold and rainy and gray when we arrived, but it's pretty damn exciting to be here!

We walked around a little by the Trocadero, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower on Friday, and I saw all of TWO runners. Uhhhhhhhhh, hello? Where my people at?! Well, it HAS been rainy.

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary by eating the best meal of my life at Le Jules Verne on Friday night. I again used my French to get 'er done. When we arrived at the restaurant and the maitre d' asked if we had reservations, I responded "oui!" When he asked what time, I responded "a huit heure et dimi." Man that's fun. I won't blow-by-blow the meal, but suffice it to say we had an awesome time. We were at our table for 3 hours!! Everything we ate was out-of-this-world good. The chef propriétaire, Alain Ducasse, has created an amazing place on the 35th floor of the Eiffel Tower.

On Saturday we plan to do our first walking tour of the trip on Île de la Cité.

WOW, sounds incredible. I got to tell ya I'm pretty jealous never having been out of the states myself... someday. Hopefully when the rain gives way, the runners will come out. Enjoy the rest of your trip. I'll stay tuned for more Paris updates. BTW....cool picture!
